The Redmere Soloist
Power Supply
Nothing unusual here. The +/-12v supplies feed the preamp using 78/79 series regulators. One chassis found had a 79M12 (500mA) fitted and another had a 7912 (1A). Prototypes or Trade Fair samples may be different.
A minor complaint is that the mains earth is connected to the chassis using one of the IEC mains connector screws. That's not a good idea. 1 - it's plastic and can crack or come loose and 2- the safety earth should have it's own dedicated fixing. Easy enough to drill the back panel and make a proper connection.

Thanks to Billy Stephens for the details of an early chassis he's working on. This was before the factory went over to integrated regulators.
